Dermal fillers can help create or restore natural looking volume for your entire face.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE LIPS
Many medically controlled studies have now shown that collagen and elastin production decrease by as much as 40-60% as we move into our middle years and beyond.
An internal decrease in protein production coupled with a decrease in blood circulation and overall skin hydration have a profound impact on the surface appearance of our skin, facial features and bone structure.
The following are four essential substances produced by our bodies that decrease as we age:

TYPES AND USE OF DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal Fillers can be thought of as, “tools used to restore volume” which are injected under the skin to create a tighter, smoother, and more contoured appearance.
They are most frequently injected into the lips, cheeks, hollows under the eyes, and in the naso-labial folds. Dermal fillers can also be used to complete a non-surgical nose job and to reshape the chin and jawline.
Specific uses for cosmetic fillers are as follows:
Temple Filler: Fillers are used to correct the loss of volume from the temple area and correct the volume loss that occurs with age.
Under Eye Filler: Dermal fillers can replace the loss of deep fat that is under the eyes. This helps to correct the hollows that can occur in the tear trough area and also helps improve under eye dark circles.
Cheeks: Cosmetic fillers can be used in the hollow of the cheeks to create contoured cheekbones and restore lost volume.
Lip Augmentation: Fillers can be used to create a fuller, filled in shape and smooth the lips or fine lines above the lips known as, “smoker’s lines.”
Non-Surgical Nose Job: Facial fillers may be used to add shape to the bridge of the nose, and to lift the tip of the nose.
Fine Lines: As we age, it is common for fine lines to form around the mouth and under the eyes which creates a tired and aged appearance.
Chin: Facial filler can be used in the chin and chin area to lengthen the chin, improve the look of a weak chin, and create a youthful angulation. In Men dermal fillers can be used to create a stronger square chin and jaw line, and in women we can use fillers to give a V shape to the chin and jaw. In chin dermal filler can also be used to reduce the appearance of Jowls.
Nasolabial Folds: These are the lines that extend from the nostril ridge along the lip area into the upper chin. Filling and smoothing these lines erases years off of your appearance.
Hands: The hands can often look older because they are overused and not well hydrated due to frequent washing. The backs of the hands will lose fat and hydration as we age, making veins and bony prominences more visible.
Feet: Filler can be used in the feet to reduce the signs of aging and can also be used on the bottom of the foot for those who experience pain when wearing high heels.
“Dermal filler use has become a very popular procedure for the face but it is so versatile that it can be used anywhere on the body where wrinkling and volume loss indicate signs of aging, such as the back of the hands and even the feet! THE TWO TYPES OF DERMAL FILLERS
There are essentially two main categories of facial fillers available in the Canadian market.
Absorbable Fillers
Absorbable fillers are composed of collagen, hyaluronic acid or Poly-L-Lactic acid. Typically, dermal fillers which are composed of collagen or hyaluronic acid last 3-18 months but are more natural products. The most commonly used products have hyaluronic acid as their base as these are safe and have very few potential side effects. Hyaluronic acids are sugars that are naturally produced by our bodies and found in connective tissue, cartilage, and some nerve tissues so they are a completely natural product to inject into your tissue. All of the facial filler products used in my clinic are approved by Health Canada, hence proving to be one of the best dermal fillers in Toronto.
Poly-L-Lactic acid fillers stimulate collagen production by your own body and can last up to 2 years. Poly-L-Lactic acid is a man-made synthetic substance and must be layered into the desired area over time.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a product extracted from your own blood which can be injected on its own or in combination with dermal fillers to restore volume and smooth the skin. It is also completely safe as it is derived from your own body’s tissues. The effects of PRP are typically long lasting, up to 24 months, and help stimulate your body’s own collagen production.
Non-Absorbable Fillers
These dermal fillers in Toronto are man-made, typically containing small plastic beads and are not bio-degradable, but are Heath Canada Approved.
DERMAL FILLER SIDE EFFECTS?
Injection of Dermal filler may sometimes result in bruising. Avoiding anti-inflammatory drugs, Aspirin, and supplement like Omega-3 oils, ginseng and gingko biloba a week prior to facial filler injection may help reduce bruising. I do not recommend that you stop the use of any prescription medication treatments, including Aspirin, without speaking to your physician. If you have a question regarding the supplements that you are taking, feel free to talk to me during your initial consultation.

HOW LONG DO DERMAL FILLERS LAST?
HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Dermal Fillers will last between 3 – 24 months once injected into the face. There are a number of factors which will contribute to the longevity of your filler treatment, including genetics, your body’s metabolism, the type of dermal filler used, its chemical composition and where it was injected into your face. As a general rule, fillers last longer in facial areas which experience minimal dynamic movement such as the chin and forehead, while they will diminish more quickly in the lips because the constant movement of our mouth promotes a more rapid metabolism of the product.

ANSWER
Different dermal fillers have different properties in terms of fluidity and firmness. The particular type of filler that I select for enhancement will depend on the area of treatment and your aesthetic goals. For example, a softer, more fluid filler may be used directly under the skin to lift lines or wrinkles, and a more dense filler may be used to add volume to cheek bones or jaw lines. After the initial assessment and formulation of a plan, I will choose the appropriate fillers to achieve the desired effects
BEST CANDIDATES FOR DERMAL FILLERS
Who are the Best Candidates for Dermal Fillers?
I always take the time to complete a thorough assessment for each patient coming for dermal fillers before I start a facial filler treatment. It is essential to make sure that the patient is in good health, suitable for facial filler treatment, has no open sores or skin infections on the face, and that the patient has had a chance to ask all of their questions before I start the procedure. We take pride in being one of the best clinics that injects dermal fillers in Toronto.
How is it that Facial Dermal Fillers Work So Well?
As skin ages, it loses its moisture because the body is producing less hyaluronic acid and collagen.
At the same time, we lose volume from the deep fat compartments in our face and aging can reshape our facial bones. This shifting of tissue creates wrinkles, fine lines and hollows in various areas of the face. Facial injectable fillers work by replacing the volume and structure of lost fat, collagen and elastin. The result is restored plumpness, smoother features, volume where you want it and an immediate refreshed, youthful appearance.
How much does
Dermal Filler Cost?
The cost of dermal filler is dependent on the area of injection, the type of filler used, and the amount of filler injected. Typically, treatments will start at $500. A few words on Non-surgical Facelifts from Doctor Bector.
I use dermal fillers to re-volumize hollowed out areas and lift drooping of the face including the cheeks, chin and under the eyes. Filler may also be injected immediately under the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When injected properly, facial fillers mimic the fat pads of the face and improve the contours to the face, lift and smooth lines and wrinkles in the skin and provide a more youthful facial structure. Neuro-modulators can be used to balance muscles, tighten areas, and soften lines and wrinkles. It never paralyzes a muscle but rather will appropriately weaken a muscle to achieve a more youthful, natural appearance without completely taking away expression.
Chemical peels and lasers (aka laser facelift)/ RF (radio frequency) can also be used to resurface the skin and to even out coloration and tone. Lasers are used to improve collagen and elastin while also providing skin firmness and skin tightening. Once the Non-Surgical Instant Facelift is completed I will recommend medical grade skincare that will complement your skin type, and has the proven active ingredients necessary to change the texture and tone of your skin.

Together we can build a plan to create a look that will express your
