Scar Treatment Mississauga

Advanced Acne, Surgical & Texture Scar Revision at LipDoctor Some scars fade with time. Others remain long after the skin has healed. You may barely notice them some days, then suddenly see them in certain lighting, in photos, or every time you look in the mirror. A mark left by acne. A reminder of surgery. …

Why Scar Treatment Requires Expertise

No two scars behave exactly the same way.

The best treatment depends on:

  • how the scar formed
  • how long it has been present
  • whether it is raised, flat, or indented
  • redness or pigment changes
  • your skin tone and healing tendencies
  • location on the face or body
  • previous treatments
  • how aggressive or conservative treatment should be

This is why one-size-fits-all scar treatment often disappoints.

At LipDoctor, we match the treatment to the scar.

What Are Scars?

Scars are unfortunately, a natural part of our body’s healing process.
People develop visible scars on the skin when the biologic process of wound healing patches together damaged tissues with a strong, fibrous network of collagen. Most wounds and skin injuries result in some degree of scarring but each person’s unique skin properties and complexion will show this differently. A smooth, shiny or raised patch of skin caused by a scar will look and feel different from the normal skin cells around it. Often, scars will fade and lighten over the years as they mature, however for many people, darker pigmentation or a raised appearance can make scars stand out as obvious and for some can become a source of embarrassment. Scars on the face left by chronic acne breakouts can leave pitted, wavy and red or purple skin changes. Not getting a scar treatment well in time, especially acne scar treatment also puts patients in a timid position.

Scarring related to burns or surgical injuries can appear as smooth and discoloured patches of skin which may also be tight and distort the surrounding skin. Stretch marks are a common type of scar, caused by deep layers of skin tearing under pressure during growth spurts, pregnancy, and muscle / weight gain. Collagen and elastin in our bodies is meant to expand and retract naturally but when stretched rapidly, the structure and smooth surface of the skin can be permanently changed, leaving a series of linear indents and stripes on skin areas such as the thighs, buttocks, breasts, chest, arms and tummy.

Common Scar Concerns We Treat

Acne Scars

Even after acne clears, textural scarring can remain for years.

This may include rolling scars, boxcar scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, or marks most noticeable in bright lighting or without makeup.

Surgical Scars

Scars from C-sections, cosmetic surgery, orthopedic procedures, mole removals, and other surgeries can often be improved in colour, texture, and overall appearance.

Injury Scars

Cuts, burns, falls, accidents, and childhood injuries can leave visible reminders patients would simply like softened.

Raised or Thickened Scars

Some scars heal firm, raised, or overly prominent. These often need a different strategy than indented scars.

Keloid-Prone Scars

Keloid Scar and recurrent raised scars require careful assessment and customized planning.

Red or Pigmented Scars

Some scars are flat but remain visibly red, pink, brown, or uneven long after healing.

The LipDoctor Difference

Many clinics offer one treatment and hope it fits.

LipDoctor offers options—and judgment.

We assess the scar itself, the surrounding skin, your healing pattern, and what level of improvement is realistically achievable. Some scars need resurfacing. Some need collagen remodeling. Some need colour correction. Some benefit from combining treatments over time.

That distinction matters.

When treatment is personalized, results are often better.

Advanced Scar Treatments at LipDoctor

Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to remodel tissue beneath the surface.

It can be an excellent option for acne scars, uneven texture, and patients wanting visible improvement with limited downtime.

Fractora helps improve superficial irregularities, skin texture, and collagen renewal.

Secret PRO can be highly effective for textural acne scarring and overall skin refinement.

Fractional CO2 Laser may be recommended for deeper textural scarring or areas needing stronger skin renewal.

For the right patient, it can be transformative.

Laser Genesis is often valuable when scars remain red or skin quality needs a gentler collagen-supportive approach.

PRP may be incorporated in select cases to support healing and collagen renewal.

Chemical Peel can help when scars are paired with pigmentation, dullness, or uneven tone.

Facial Scars Require Extra Care

Scars on the cheeks, forehead, nose, lips, jawline, or temples often carry more emotional weight because they are seen every day.

Visible areas require a thoughtful aesthetic approach—not simply treatment, but treatment that respects facial harmony, skin quality, and healing.

This is where experience matters.

What Results Can You Expect?

Scar treatment is usually about improvement, not erasure.

Depending on the scar, patients often notice:

  • smoother texture
  • softer edges
  • reduced depth
  • less visible redness
  • improved colour blending
  • stronger skin quality
  • more confidence without makeup
  • scars that no longer draw immediate attention

Even moderate improvement can feel significant when it affects something you notice every day.

How Long Does It Take?

Some improvements can be seen early, but meaningful scar remodeling often happens progressively over weeks to months as collagen rebuilds.

Certain scars respond best to a series of treatments rather than one session.

Patience is often rewarded.

Downtime & Recovery

Recovery depends on the treatment selected.

Some options involve minimal downtime with mild redness for a short period. More intensive resurfacing treatments may involve several days of healing.

Your plan should match not only your scar—but your schedule and lifestyle.

Why Patients Choose LipDoctor

Patients choose LipDoctor because we understand nuance.

We know when to treat more aggressively and when gradual progression is smarter. We know when multiple modalities outperform one device. We know when patience is part of the plan.

Most importantly, we understand that scar treatment is personal.

Our approach is honest, customized, and focused on real progress.

How are Keloids treated?

In-office steroid injections have become a common, nonsurgical option for the treatment of hypertrophic and keloid scars.

Triamcinolone, also known as Kenalog injections, are the standard steroid used to calm overgrowth of tissue to flatten and fade scars and keloid scars in specificity. Injection dosage and repeated treatments will be customized for the individual client depending on their needs and the size of the scars. 1-3 separate treatments may be advised for scar treatment in Toronto at our hands. Minor reactions to steroid scar treatment may include hyper-pigmentation, (loss of pigment) or subcutaneous atrophy which means that fat in the treatment area can shrink and cause a depression.

Hypertrophic scars have been shown to respond better than keloids to Kenalog injection, but early identification and keloid scar treatment may help improve results as well.
